I am Loren Beachy, cofounder and President of Bright Star Auctions. In this position, I support our Chief Marketing Officer Mike Langthorne, Chief Sales Officer Jonathon Miller, Chief Operations Officer Nathan Lehman, and Chief Finance Officer Mary Schmucker.

I grew up on a horse farm in Benton Ohio, then Goshen Indiana, and will likely always have a bit of equine in my heart. At eighteen years old in 2005, the Lord helped me to turn my childhood dream of becoming an auctioneer into a reality.

Eugene Hochstetler and I founded Bright Star Auctions in 2016 with a focus on heavy equipment auctions with integrity. Since then, we have constantly been striving to build a better auction team, business, and service and have been blown away at the dynamic team and results the Lord has blessed us with.
Personally, my wife Gina and I live in Middlebury Indiana, with our two daughters and one son.

What makes you most excited about working at Bright Star Auctions?

I cannot think of a job in the world I would rather do than to help the Bright Star team show Christ to the world by serving heavy equipment buyers and sellers in the auction industry. Not only are we in the most enjoyable industry in the world, but we get to serve a higher purpose with eternal value.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

What I enjoy most about my role is auction day and the dynamism of buyers and sellers coming together to establish true market value.

Is there a Bright Star Auctions initiative you’ve been involved with that you’re especially excited about?

Certainly, one Bright Star Auctions initiative that I am excited about is defining what our purpose – Show Christ to the world- looks like. We don’t intend to overtly evangelize, but we do want to serve people so well and so intuitively that it sparks a curiosity about the Love behind our service.

How does a typical day play out for you at Bright Star Auctions? What are you responsible for?

A typical day for me at Bright Star Auctions involves meeting with the team leaders that report to me and brainstorming with them as well as supporting them. Additionally, I spend a large amount of time working on strategic initiatives as well as reviewing reports.

What’s a fun/interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?

I am a published author. My book, Chasing the Amish Dream, was published in 2014. Also, I taught elementary school for eight years while building an auction business.

How do you spend your free time?

I have enjoyed spending some time the past several years teaching my daughters to read. Our six-year-old has become quite a bookworm and our four-year-old is still learning her vowels. Most other free time is spent reading. I enjoy reading theological tomes as well as business books along with publications such as Harvard Business Review and Wall Street Journal. Additionally, it’s difficult to beat a good novel- I prefer legal thrillers and historical fiction. My favorite author is John Lescroart.

What is the most unique item you’ve witnessed at an auction?

One memorable auction that comes to mind was the time we sold a broomstick factory- including lots of their product!
